National Vocational Qualifications are alternate qualifications for students seeking hands-on technical training in fields such as healthcare, medicine, finance, engineering, IT and others. NVQs offer students different work opportunities that allow them to enter the work environment directly with effective practical skills. Students are trained via campus training facilities and go through a series of workshops that aim to increase the technical skills as opposed to theoretical and textbook skills as in traditional university degrees.
Students are assessed based on their work portfolio that includes the range of practical assignments and tasks completed. Also, individual instructors will monitor each student’s individual efforts in completing tasks and assess them based on their efficiency in problem solving, innovation, multitasking and management as well as other criteria.
There are different levels for NVQs and they are:
